In the world of Access Control, people are getting more and more familiar with the technology used. Proximity, RFID technologies can easily be breached because the cards, barcode decals and RFID tags can easily be shared, lost and stolen. Therefore there is a requirement of reader technology that can offer a high level of security and Biometrics is a solution for that.

In Biometrics the image of physical characteristics like fingers, hands, eyes etc. is stored as identification and each time a person requires an access, depending upon the type of Biometric reader, he has to compare his current image with the stored image. This has a major advantage because this identification cannot be duplicated, lost or stolen. Another advantage is that the person does not have to carry any card, barcode decal or RFID tag.

Biometrics offers the level of security within itself. For example, fingerprint scanners can be set to test the print of a single finger or require all ten digits before allowing access. Access Control Panel: Two Port With TCP/IP

Access Control panels with TCP/IP (XP/IP) can control up to two doors or gates and offers advanced features. It can be used as a Stand alone panel or a network panel on a new or existing LAN/WAN computer network; or, it can be connected over a 232/485 network; or, can operate over a regular phone line.

TCP/IP (XP/IP) Access Control Panel offers distributed processing with a powerful processor so all decisions are made at the panel and the communication to the PC is neither critical nor essential. Proximity Card Readers And Cards

IDC80 proximity card is a very thin, truly credit card thickness (0.8mm) of contact less proximity card and it has very flat surface to apply any photo ID on both sides of card. IDC80 can be pre-programmed with unique encryption code and it has very flexible data format to meet any customer's requirement and any OEM format up to 64 bit ID is also available.

It can also be supplied without code and customer can write their unique code by using STAR PGM1000 Programming Devices with Programming software. IDC80 has 2 punch hole marks on the back side and can also be slot punched either vertically or horizontally and also available with a Magnetic Stripe and smart chip for use with other systems.

The proximity card readers with read range from 2" to 24" are available for standard applications and for Photo-ID applications. Compatible key tags are also available. Proximity cards are preferred because they are easy to use (many times you don't even need to take them out of the wallet or purse), vandal-resistant, secure, reliable, long life and extremely user friendly.

They can be individually coded and canceled, and can be used with practically any access control panel that will accept a Wiegand or RS232 signal. Uses passive (no battery) cards that are almost as thin as a typical credit card.

This Proximity Card Readers and Cards provide a full array of proximity card readers (with varying read ranges) and a complete selection of cards and tags. Cards are available in standard format or in the Direct Print format for high volume Photo-ID Badging applications. Key chain mountable tags are also available.

Proximity Readers and Cards are preferred because they are extremely User Friendly (many times you don't even need to take them out of the wallet or purse), vandal-resistant, secure and reliable. They can be individually coded and canceled, and can be used with most access control panels.

Active RFID Tags

An RFID system consists of two major components - a reader and a transponder (or tag). They work together to provide a non-contact solution to uniquely identify people, objects or vehicles. RFID does not require line of sight between the tag and the reader and works effectively in dirty environments.

The tag is basically a RF transmitter that contains an antenna, a microchip and a battery to power the microchip. Information is stored in the tag can range from as little as an identification number, to kilobytes. The encoded data is converted to electromagnetic field by the microchip circuitry and radiated at pre-defined intervals using an antenna.

The reader consists of an antenna, a RF receiver and processing circuitry. The antenna couples the electromagnetic energy transmitted by the Tag to the Reader. The processing circuitry of the reader decodes the received information and sends the data to a Host Computer or a Control Device/Panel
